December 4, 2020

VW Parents!

Please remember we will be moving to 4 days of direct instruction Monday. Below is an excerpt from LCSD Officials we were asked to share.

Dear Parent /Guardian:

As we prepare to transition from a hybrid schedule to four days of in -person learning, health and safety remain our top priorities. Schools maintain preventive practices to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus, but in group settings some may still be exposed and become ill. It is important that steps be taken to protect all LCSD students and staff and provide students with a safe, healthy learning environment.

Plexiglass shields will be used to limit contact between students when students must be seated closer than 6 feet. Current DHEC guidance allows students to be seated at least 3 feet apart, if the appropriate plexiglass is utilized and students are wearing cloth face coverings that cover the nose and mouth.

However, due to limited space in your child’s classroom, we are notifying you that it will be difficult to ensure that students are distanced by at least 3 feet when seated and that the plexiglass will provide appropriate separation during school activities.

Please continue to monitor your child daily for symptoms of COVID-19. Schools will maintain preventive practices, strict cleaning protocols and screen all staff and students daily to ensure that sick individuals do not enter classrooms, in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.

LCSD

Please check out the rest of the parent blast this week. We ask that you be patient with us as we adjust some procedures to accommodate increased numbers and maintain student and staff safety.

Let the greatness begin in YOU!

Humbly,

Steven Puckett

Coach P

Principal VWES

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills help children have more positive relationships with peers and adults. These are skills that students are taught and should be practiced in order for them to talk about how they feel and how to react to their feelings. Studies have shown that when children are engaged in social emotional learning their academic ability to learn can be enhanced. They will also have an increased self awareness. Check out these great resources that can be used at home by clicking the links below! Our School Counselor's will also add them to your child's google classroom as a resource.

September 6, 2020

VW Parents!

Our students did an outstanding job last week. Remember our first two weeks we are heavily focusing on assessment, review, expectations, and getting familiar with the instructional framework for learning. I know there are many challenges many families are contending with as we begin this year. It is our goal to serve your family and provide the very best environment for your student to learn regardless of where they are learning from. I am going to do my best to have a daily message for all our students. These messages can be accessed from your child’s google account or our VW Eagle Cast page HERE.

You should be getting a weekly overview of learning from your child’s teacher. This will give you an idea of the scope and sequence of learning for the week. If you have specific questions, I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher. We are here to help and support you.

Just a reminder school is closed tomorrow for the Labor Day holiday. We will pick back up Tuesday morning.

Please let us know if we can assist you in any way. Remember, let the greatness begin in you!

Humbly,

Steven Puckett

Take Aim at Greatness

August 11, 2020

VW Eagles!

We are planning daily and preparing for the quickly approaching school year using the latest information we have.

We wanted to communicate a few important things today.

We plan on sending electronic class placement forms to the email address we have on file in Powerschool the week of August 17th.

In the interim in an effort to assist with planning, please refer to the chart below. if you selected in person instruction for your child two days a week, to determine what days they are assigned to attend school on campus.

Please note that this does not apply to students who opted for all remote/virtual instruction. Virtual Instruction days will be noted on your child’s class placement email.

In Person Cohort A (Monday and Tuesday): All of Walnut Creek Subdivision, Hancock Rd, Hector Rd

In Person Cohort B (Thursday and Friday): All other roads zoned for VWES

Due to the unique situation we are faced with, our back to school and orientation day will be virtual this year.

Please click HERE for more information and the virtual open house schedule.

Additional details concerning staggered entry for kindergarten, LEAP day schedules (August 31st through September 4th) for 1st through 5th grade, and virtual instruction device pick up will be sent out in the coming days.

As always, if we can assist you in anyway, please let us know.

Let the greatness begin in you!
